Redoing illustrations seems to be a trend this month.

Here it is! the updated mapmakers den, still need to add the character in
with some work in progress showing you the steps in which it was done. :)

Burning Man

compositing so so so many layers to create interesting effects

these are screenshots from a very interesting animation that's coming out of Khoya. :)

this is the part of jitu's text that it illustrates:
'

“One day, however, the man was distracted by a bolt of lightning that struck a tree. The tree burst into flames. As the tree blazed, the animals went hurrying away, they were afraid of the destructive power of the fire. But the man was curious and went closer. He picked up a burning branch, and as he looked at the flames at the other end of the branch he told the woman ‘with this we can have light all the time.’ Thus they were able to tame the fire and this became the first step in their control of the elements.

“Soon they were feared by the animals. When they realised that they could tame fire, pride was born and they felt much greater than the other animals.'

lovink it! :)

the second part of the creation myth

Today was a Khoya marathon, jitu came over and worked on the text whilst I worked on this illustration for the creation myth in Khoya part one.
it
was
insane.

the tree was many many many versions of back and forth until i finally came to a point i was happy with.
but now I'm really loving all the golds and blues and can't wait to take this into after effects!
woo woo woo

strangely enough this illustration began with this drawing that I'd made with no particular purpose in mind a few weeks ago :)

Nothing Changes just rearranges

 Before:
A
After

It's been interesting to see how doing this to be launched in december I find myself not as easily satisfied as one would think. :)

and a lot of the illustrations have had multiple rounds of reworking.

and the Map changes again!

This time it's silver
but we're all quite happy with the way its turned out.

Hundredth Post! :)

Wow!
it's been a hundred posts already!! :D
in celebration:
here's the Camera book! where quests are recorded, photos are taken
and more and more and more. :)

original stock copyright free texture for the book cover by *Meltys
the open book is a photograph I myself took of a book called "Guidance from Beyond'
quite ironic considering it's role in Khoya.

Thank you!

The Beginning of the Creation Myth

here's an illustration from the beginning of the creation myth.
really happy with how this one turned out. :)

And here's some work in progress on the left of the creation myth's character -first woman
. the image on top of this text is what she looked like last year. quite a change!

the intro animation to the creation myth! all quite inspired also by the time working with N at the planetarium. :)

The New Map of Khoya

So in the last few weeks we were feeling a need to move away from traditional maps such as the maps i've been creating for khoya so far
and find a way of creating a compass/device that expands out into a very steampunk map of khoya.
and here it is!

below are images of how it changed and morphed over the months.

starting point of a compass expanding

becoming into a mandala formation-pretty but not functional

becoming very iconographic with just an icon for each chapter
which was nice but not detailed enough

To finally deciding to actually sketch out khoya!
